Economic Development Committee
The purpose of the Economic Development Committee (EDC) is to design and implement policies, programs, and projects that enhance our community’s economy, create economic opportunities for our residents, increase City tax capacity, and improve our quality of life.
Within the Committee there are individuals that can assist both residents and non-residents with a variety of support services to attract, retain, and expand businesses by collaborating with other City Departments and outside economic development organizations. As a result, we can offer a “continuum of care” that provides valuable services to businesses, big and small.
On a City level, we can work with other Departments to facilitate the development and permit processes, and identify possible incentives and deferrals. With outside economic development partners, we can leverage their resources to provide business services ranging from small business loans to employee training and recruitment.
Additionally the Committee assists leadership in their efforts to oversee the day-to-day activities in the City’s Downtown Community Redevelopment Area (DCRA). Areas of interest to the committee include developing projects and programs that eliminate blight in the Downtown area and stimulate public-private partnerships to ensure that future development mirrors the recommendations outlined as a part of the Visioning Process and the City’s Downtown Redevelopment Plan.
The Economic Development & Revitalization Committee is committed to the success of our community.
